The Yellow House

Celebrations at the Yellow House

Built in 1857, this historic pre-Civil War farmhouse is perfect for weddings, banquets, showers, and other special events. Situated on 120 acres of farmland with public hiking trails, the Italianate-style Yellow House was built by businessman and banker Rush Battles in 1858. The Battles Estate also includes the nearby White House, built by the family in 1861.

Enjoy an intimate setting with our newly renovated indoor banquet room and dining room that can accommodate up to 50 guests seated, or 100 guests cocktail-style. Indoor-only and full-facility pricing is available. Venue tours are offered on Saturdays and Sundays between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Please contact events@eriehistory.org to schedule yours today!

How We Work with You

Custom rental coordination is available in addition to our facility rental. Our team will work with you from start to finish to customize your tent, table, chair, linen, and other rentals needed to make your event vision come to life! The best part? We take care of all the set-up and tear-down for your special day!

The Hagen History Center allows all clients to choose one of our two catering partners for their food and beverage service. Clients may select from Sabella’s, or Make It Fabulous Catering.

The Yellow House Offers:

  • Outdoor ceremony space
  • Outdoor accommodations for 350 seated guests (tent recommended)
  • Indoor accommodations for 50 guests seated, or 100 cocktail-style
  • Newly renovated men’s and women’s single-person restrooms
  • Non-functional kitchen area for food/catering use
  • Renovated second-floor Airbnb apartment
  • Rental coordination

 

Pricing

4-hour Private Event Rental:
$2000.00 full facility, indoor/outdoor || $500.00 indoor use only

Additional time per hour: $200.00

Refundable security deposit: $500.00 full facility, indoor/outdoor || $200.00 indoor use only

Total due at signing: $350.00 indoor only || $1250.00 full facility
Total rental fee: $700.00 indoor only || $2500.00 full facility

Holidays: private rentals on holidays incur a 25% rental fee increase.

Insurance Coverage: all private rentals require $1,000,000 liability insurance coverage which can be purchased directly through our site.

Rental Coordination: based on client event size, and needs, we will develop a custom quote for all tent, table, chair, linen etc. rentals used. We are able to work with flexible budgets. Standard tent, table, chair, and linen packages available for $25.00 per-guest. Upgrades and additional items available upon request.

Special Discounts:

  • 10% Military Discount, 10% weekday discount (Monday through Thursday), and nonprofit rates are available. Discounts cannot be combined.
