Hagen History Center

In with the old and new. A fresh start for the Yellow House, 165 years later

The fall of 2023 is highlighted by the many public and private events at the Yellow House at 436 Walnut Street in Girard, PA. The house and grounds are taking off and running, providing a fast and fresh start for exciting possibilities. Nearly every weekend since its unveiling, guests have enjoyed the serene landscape and property.

The Yellow House is well underway to become one of our region’s most sought-after venues and destinations. Hosting  BBQs, harvest dinners, a wedding venue and vendor showcase, cooking classes, and a recent surprise Halloween party – there is truly something for everyone.

Late September marked the return of our sell-out farm-to-table dinners, as well as our wedding venue showcase. For two nights, guests dined under the stars in the center of the Yellow House lawn. Red Letter Hospitality served an exquisite 7-course meal. All of the food and decorations for the event were sourced locally.

The Hagen History Center recently hosted its first wedding venue showcase event. Several local businesses partnered with us for the day to showcase what the Yellow House would look like as a wedding venue. With over 50 visitors visiting the property, we are thrilled to host the next season of weddings and events in 2024 and 2025!

Our staff has added a new focus to our community-centered educational programming and events. Modern society is experiencing a food-centered movement that encourages fresh, local, homegrown, and preserved foods. Learning the skills to live a more sustainable and healthy lifestyle is widely desirable. Our cooking classes work with that notion while cultivating a deeper appreciation and connection with our region and its many bounties. We have partnered with some of the best chefs and foodies in our region to create these unique opportunities. Please check our website for cooking class schedules and information.

The Yellow House has a variety of options to host your next private event. The full facility rental can accommodate up to 350 people with indoor and outdoor access. Naturally emphasizing the scenery year-round, this makes the perfect venue for weddings. The newly renovated first floor of the house is available to accommodate up to 50 guests seated or 75 cocktail-style style. Equipped with stunning new lighting fixtures, furniture, archival art, and museum artifacts – your party, shower, or gathering will present the most inviting atmosphere.
